Ball, Marjory (Truro/Tatamagouche) – It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marjory Ball on February 5, 2020 at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Marjory was born on March 30, 1926 in English Harbour, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland to Claretha Belle (Crummey) and Wallace John Batstone. Marjory is survived by her son, Arthur (Mary vanBerkel), her granddaughters, Sylvia (Alex) Curry, Riverview NB and Jocelyn (Rob) Scherer, Calgary AB, and her great grandchildren Xavier and Selena Curry and Eric and Bennett Scherer. Marjory is survived by one brother, Don, Ottawa, ON. She was pre-deceased by her best friend and loving husband, Harrison Arthur Ball in December 2015 as well as two sisters, Flo and Hazel and two brothers, Vic and Art. Marjory grew up in a loving family that lived off the land and sea in English Harbour. She was very involved in family and church activities. Marjory’s life long passion was handcrafts which she taught in her early years in NL. She met Harrison Ball in St. John’s NL and they went on to spend 64+ years of happily married life together. In 1960, she began her career with the Bank of Nova Scotia where she worked for 26+ years prior to retirement. In 1964 the family moved to Halifax, NS so Harrison could complete his engineering degree. They built a cottage on the Brule Shore to which they escaped from the city on weekends. Marjory and Harrison loved to explore and collect. They built their retirement home in Balfron (Tatamagouche) NS and lived a very healthy 25 years there. Marjory loved her cats but was also known for feeding the deer out of her hands in her Balfron backyard. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Parkland (Shannex) Truro for their loving care over the past 5 years as well as the paramedics, emergency staff, the ICU staff and the Palliative Care staff at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Coulter’s Funeral Home in Tatamagouche. A private Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
