Marjorie Nin Fraser Doucette 2020

Marjorie “Nin” Sarah Doucette (Fraser)
May 2, 1934 – September 24, 2020
Ingonish Beach
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mom, Marge Doucette in the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, on Thursday, September 24, 2020.
Born in New Waterford on May 2, 1934, Marge was the daughter of the late John Dan and Victoria Veronica (Corbett) Fraser.
A woman of superhuman abilities who held positions of (but not limited to) nurturer, chef (or short-order cook, depending on how many were in the kitchen that day), cleaner, nurse, chauffeur, handywoman, therapist, mediator, bodyguard, detective, negotiator, consoler, and tower of strength and ability.
Besides her family there is nothing she enjoyed more than the beach. She spent every possible minute sitting in the sun with her beach family. Mom was long standing volunteer for Palliative Care, Eucharistic Minister and active member of the Catholic Woman’s League at St. Peter’s Parish Church. She was a woman of strong faith. Nothing was more precious to her then her family and friends. She loved a good story and a laugh and spending time with her weekly craft group.
We are all pretty sure that her last words would have been “I’d rather be at the beach”.
Marge is survived by her children Pam (Andy) Doherty, Kathy (John) MacKrous, Parker (Myrna) Doucette and Nancy (Dale) MacDougall, brothers Russell (Judy) Fraser, Eddy (Pauline) Fraser and sister Eunice Burchell. She was proud to be Nin to grandchildren Amanda, Blair, Robyn, Danial, Meghan, Glori, Jeremy and Travis as well as great grandchildren Rebecca, Michaela, Bailey, Hayden, Peyton, Grayson, Peyton, Easton, Avery, Rory and Tatum.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Leroy Doucette, daughter Leigh (Winston) Donovan, great-granddaughter Ainsley Donovan, brothers Gordie, Wayne, Earl Fraser and sister Lorraine Fraser.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the EMT’s, nurses, doctors and staff of 4C, and the Palliative Care Unit at Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North of Smokey Palliative Care, St. Peter’s Parish Church graveyard fund or St. Peter’s Parish Catholic Women’s League.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will be a private family service. Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
