Obituary of MARION ELEANOR MacGOWAN
MacGOWAN, Marion Eleanor – Peacefully on Wednesday June 3rd, 2020 at Parkview Meadows, Townsend formerly of Waterford in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late Jim MacGowan. Loving mother of James (and Mary Ann), Margaret (and Ross) Hendershot. Cherished Nana of Jennifer MacGowan, Jamie MacGowan (and Jacky Moran), Christopher Hendershot (and Lori Crowe), Kyle (and Erin) Hendershot, and loved GG of Emma and Zoe. Marion moved to Waterford in 1948 to teach at Waterford High School where she met her husband Jim and married in 1949. Although Marion took time off from teaching to raise her children, she returned to Waterford High School to teach many more years giving her the opportunity to teach two generations of families. Marion’s greatest love in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Marion was a proud United Empire Loyalist and had a passion for quilting and gardening, was an avid golfer and loved to travel with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Marion was also a proud life-long member of Waterford United Church. A family graveside service has taken place at Waterford Greenwood Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, you may donate in memory of Marion to Alzheimer’s Society or Waterford District Community Foundation.
