McGrath, Marion Ruth Age 79 of
Goshen, Guysborough County went home to meet her Lord and Saviour
Jesus Christ on Wednesday, October 21, 2020. She passed away in St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. She was a daughter
of the late Earl and Rose (Harvey) McGrath. Marion looked after
children in the local area along with doing housekeeping for families.
She is survived by her husband, John Day; children, Michael Furlong,
West Quoddy; Eileen Furlong, Lower Sackville; Kelly Young, Antigonish;
Sandy Young, St. Andrews; AmyLee Day, Merland; John Day Jr, Goshen;
several grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Harvey McGrath,
Sheet Harbour; sister, Margaret Emmitt, Dartmouth; several nieces,
nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her first husband,
Guy Furlong; sisters, Caroline MacInnis, Jean Fossheim and Evelyn
Martin. A private family funeral service will be held Sunday in Goshen
Gospel Church with Pastor John Luten officiating. A public graveside
service will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday in Goshen Cemetery. Social
distancing protocols must be followed and masks are mandatory for
people outside of Marion’s family bubble. Memorial donations
may be made to St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Palliative
Care Unit. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the
Doctors and Nurses in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital
Palliative Care Unit for the compassion and care given to Marion.
