Passed away on July 3, 2020 at The Village of Riverside Glen in Guelph ON. Born December 3, 1927 in Shawville QC, she is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Millar “Art” Shore. Predeceased by her sisters Catherine and Bernice, she is survived by her sisters June and Millie and her brother John. Betty’s spirit lives on through her sons Steven (Karen) and Blaine (Jeannie) and their families. She was a proud grandmother to Casey, Amanda and Dominique, and she was thrilled to welcome her first great grandchild Athena “Tina” Lukasik in 2019. Betty was a nurse at the Ottawa Civic Hospital and recently her nursing class celebrated their 70th anniversary. It was while nursing an injured hockey player that she met the love of her life “Art” and they were married. Extremely active in leadership roles in the Order of Eastern Star for most of their lives, Art and Betty remain lifetime members of Renfrew Chapter. They were known to travel across Canada and the U.S. to visit other chapters and share their friendship. Art and Betty moved to Elora in 2008 and enjoyed 10 wonderful years with their friends at Heritage River Retirement Residence before moving to The Village of Riverside Glen. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the staff at both residences for taking such loving care of their parents, especially during the COVID 19 pandemic when family couldn’t be physically close to them. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Graham Giddy Funeral Home in Fergus. No service will take place at this time. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Lower Litchfield Cemetery c/o C84 Calumet Road East, Shawville QC J0X2Y0.
