Obituary of Marilyn Shirley Howard
Age 72, Herring Cove, Marilyn Shirley Howard passed suddenly in her home November 17th 2020.
Born in Halifax, Marilyn (Marnie) was the first born of three girls to the late Richard Howard & Bertha (Bowser). Marnie graduated from B.C Silver High School & shortly after began her 30 year long career at MTT. Marnie also loved going to church every Sunday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, this is where she also taught Sunday school that gave her great joy. Marnie had started her battle with dialysis at the age of 60 going up to four times a week. Always in good spirits, Marnie was extremely caring and loving, she would reach out to help anyone she could, wheelchair bound Marnie would still watch the daily mass on television and say her daily prayers. Marnie was an avid reader especially for romances, she also loved doing her crossword puzzles while listening to country music in the kitchen all the while being kept in good company by the family cat Max. Marnie never married nor had children of own, she lived in the family home with her sister Roberta and helped raise her nephew Richard (Ricky) she was indeed a second mother to him. Marnie also loved the Christmas season, decorating the house and putting the tree up made her so happy. This Christmas will simply not be the same without her and her lovely smile, Marnie you are forever in our hearts, may you rest in eternal peace, you will be deeply missed by all.
Marilyn was survived by her sisters Roberta and Bernadette Howard; nephews, Richard Howard (Chantal DeMone) and their daughter Addisen, and Steaven Probert (Jackie Glaser); great nephew Anthony Howard (Jacqueline Sampson) and their daughter Arizona. As well as several cousins.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Access-A-Bus and the dialysis unit at the Dickson building. Cremation has taken place under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Halifax, where a service will take place on Monday, November 23rd, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the QEII Health Centre Foundation Dialysis Unit at the Dickson Building.
