Obituary for Marilyn Gibson
On Thursday, May 7, 2020 at her home in Petrolia, Marilyn Louise “Mern” Gibson (nee Stephenson) passed away at the age of 79. Beloved wife to the late Don (2017). Marilyn was the loving mother to Lynn and Mike Villalta and Lyse Gibson and Ryan DeBattista, grandmother to James Stotts and Karlee Bailey, and great grandmother Leila Michelle Stotts. She was predeceased by two grandchildren, Stuart Michael Villalta (2006) and Michelle Lee-Ann Stotts (1999). A special aunt to Denise, Darlene and Dawn, Michael, Jennifer and Christine and the late Michelyn. Marilyn was also a special second mom to Louise Ayres and her boys and best friends with June Luker, Marilyn Smith and the Wendsday Lunch Bunch.
Marilyn spent time volunteering with the C.E.E. Auxiliary, St. Paul’s UCW and the Petrolia Police Board for many years.
A service, celebrating the life of Marilyn will take place at a time when we are all safe to gather once more. She will later join Don at Hillsdale Cemetery. Cremation has taken place. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the C.E.E. Hospital Auxiliary.
