Marie’s Obituary
Marie Klem, a long time resident of Fairview, AB passed away at the age of 83, on October 20, 2020 in Fairview, AB. Born Didame Marie Halvorson, to parents Pearle and Marlow Halvorson on October 13, 1937 in Fairview, AB. Marie was married November 1, 1957 to Lennart Olsen. They lived in Gilroy, Saskatchewan until his death on November 8, 1958. Her first child Lennart was born April 13, 1959.
Marie married George Seaton on October 18, 1962 where in addition to Len, Marie and George were blessed with 3 more children; Peggy, born March 8, 1965; Geordie, born January 14, 1967 and Tamara born July 28, 1969. They lived in the David Thompson area near Hines Creek, AB, before moving their family to Fairview in 1974, where Marie worked as a Kindergarten Teachers Aid from 1975 to 1991. George passed away on January 5, 1985.
Marie met and married George Klem on June 24, 1992 and they spent their lives together in Peace River, and many winters in Victoria, until George’s passing on May 19, 2009.
Marie came back home to Fairview, where she shared a home with her dog Ginger until her passing.
Marie loved to go camping, read, work in her garden and spend time lovingly pestering her grandchildren. She spent many hours with the ladies of her quilting groups creating beautiful and intricate quilts. She spoke lovingly of her time spent in the kindergarten room with her students, and her adventures of raising her 4 children.
Marie is predeceased by her father Marlow Halvorson, mother Pearle Halvorson, brother Billy Halvorson. Her husbands: Lennart Olsen, George Seaton and George Klem, and her brother in law Victor Barbutza.
Marie is survived by her sister, Lorelli Barbutza; her brothers Bert (Marilyn) Halvorson and Gary (Janet) Halvorson. Children: son Lennart (Bonnie) Seaton, daughter Peggy (Jeff) Seaton, son Geordie (Lillian) Seaton, and daughter Tamara (Steve) Ross. Her cherished grandchildren: Matt, Scott, Shanti, Steven, Jordyn, Samantha, Savanna, Ben, Sara, Molly and Delanie; along with 4 beautiful great grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking Marie’s memory to be honored via a donation to Deaf and Hear Alberta. Info can be found at www.deafandhearalberta.ca, and donations can be made online, or in person to the family.
A private family service will be held for Marie, and she will be laid to rest at Waterhole Cemetery.
