Marie Gwendolyn “Gwen”
Meyer – 97, Truro,
beloved wife of the late Ken Meyer, passed away peacefully on Tuesday,
October 6, 2020, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre,
Truro.
Gwen is lovingly remembered by her siblings, Bert Clissold
(Jean, deceased), Truro; Pat Wilson (John), Kingston, Ontario;
sister-in-law, Janice Meyer (Cliff, deceased), Kingston, Ontario; son,
Paul Hoag (Susan Edwards), Hannon, Ontario; daughter-in-law, Pauline
Hoag (John, deceased), Truro; stepchildren, Randy Meyer (Aline),
Cornwall, Ontario; Sherrill Meyer, Gloucester, Ontario; Daryl Meyer
(Leslie), Cornwall, Ontario; Wendy Johnson (Ben), Kemptown; 15 much
loved grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one great-great
grandchild; many nieces and nephews. Gwen was predeceased by her
parents, Bert and Lillian Clissold; husbands, John Hoag (1956) and Ken
Meyer (1999); sons, Mark Hoag (1993), David Hoag (2010) and John Hoag
(2012); stepson, Kenneth Meyer (1976).
Gwen’s family and friends will cherish the memory of her
quiet strength and big heart. Quick to love and laugh, she found great
joy in her faith, her family and her friends. Thank you to all who
enriched Gwen’s 97 well-lived years with your love and friendship. She
was much loved and will be greatly missed.
The family would also like to thank the caring staff and
residents of Wallace Living (Munroe Court), Gwen’s home for the last
12 years, the VON and PSWs who provided daily care, Reverend Kaj
Binderrup and Gwen’s Immanuel Baptist Church family for their support
over the years and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit of Colchester
East Hants Health Centre who made Gwen’s final days more
comfortable.
Graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October
10, 2020, at Bible Hill Cemetery, Warren Drive, Bible Hill, Reverend
Kaj Binderup officiating; all are welcome to attend. (Due to Covid-19
and Public Health requirements, a maximum of 250 people will be
permitted to attend and face masks are required. Please register with
one of the funeral home staff upon arrival, bring your own chair and
practice physical distancing.) If so desired, donations in Gwen’s
memory to Palliative Care Unit (Colchester East Hants Health Centre)
are welcomed.
