It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the peaceful passing of Marie Frances Joy at the Agnes Pratt Nursing Home, St. John’s, NL on December 7, 2020. She was the beloved and cherished wife of Frank Joy for 67 years. Adoring mother and mother-in-law of Debbie, Marty (Marion), David (Jackie), and Keith (Tracy). Nanny’s abundance of love will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Collin Husk (Sandra), Ashley Kinsella (Robbie), Sarah Joy (Herb Gibbons), Michael Joy (Stephanie), and Sydney Joy. And her great-grandchildren Jack, Olivia, Lauren, Owen, Autumn, and Cohen.
Left with cherished and loving memories is her sister, Margie Smith (Ed), along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Born May 11, 1933 in St. John’s, NL, Marie spent her life devoted to raising and taking care of her family. She loved cooking them wonderful meals and sharing stories, jokes and laughter. She became more than their mother; she became their best friend.
She led an active life, enjoying bowling, swimming, walking and an occasional game of darts. And of course, a good game of cards (growl) with her many friends. She will always be remembered for her kind heart and warm smile.
A very special thank you to the doctors, nurses and devoted staff at Agnes Pratt Nursing Home for their kindness and dedication over the past four years. We will truly remember the respect and compassion that was shown by all.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. To join the service virtually, please visit vimeo.com/488245158 on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
Donations in her memory to the Alzheimer Society NL would be gratefully accepted.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Marie Frances Joy 2020..
