Obituary of MARIA PAIVA MOREIRA BRAS
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Maria at home on December 11, 2020 at the age of 88.
She is survived by her loving husband August and her children; Tina (Manuel) Figueiredo, Joe (Joanne), Eddie (Alice), Henry (Janine), Maria (Tony) Moura, Beatrice (Tony) Braga, Daniel (Nancy) and Leo. Avo will be missed by 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She also leaves extended family and friends.
Maria was predeceased by her first husband Antonio in 1972 and all of her siblings.
Maria was born in Santa Maria, Azores on September 24th, 1932. She was a loving person who will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and smile. Nothing brought her more joy than cooking for her family and having them gather for holidays and special occasions.
Maria worked in the garment industry and cleaning services before being employed at the Health Sciences Centre. She was a hard worker. For several years she worked two jobs while raising her eight children as a single parent.
A special thank you to her son Joe who visited daily making sure all was well with Maria and August.
She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
