Margaret Leone Callander
1932 – 2020
Leone passed away peacefully at the Chatham Kent Hospice on March 23, 2020.
She was predeceased by brothers Paul and James and sister Barbara.
She is survived by husband John (Jack) Callander, brother Joe Kelly (Pat), sisters Karla Ertel (Jay) and Veronica Davies ( the late Gord) and many nieces and nephews and their families.
We will all miss her.
Leone was born in Guelph ON. She graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in London ON and The University of Western Ontario. Her Nursing career included hospital employment followed by a career with TCA Trans Canada Airlines as a stewardess. She retired from the Catholic Children’s Aid Society in Toronto after many years of dedicated service as a Social Worker.
Leone enjoyed entertaining family and friends at the cottage in Balm Beach ON from the 60’s to the 90’s as well as in their Toronto home for many years. Leone and Jack relocated to Chatham in their later years to be with her sister Karla and her family.
To everyone at the Grand Retirement Resort and St. Andrew’s Residence in Chatham ON…You have made Leone’s final years immeasurably more comfortable. We can never thank you enough.
Many thanks and appreciation to the caring and professional staff at St. Andrew’s Residence, the Chatham Kent Health Alliance and the Chatham Kent Hospice. As a consequence of COVID-19 a memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in Leone’s memory may be made to the Chatham Kent Health Alliance or the Chatham Kent Hospice Foundation would be appreciated.
