Obituary of Margaret Elizabeth MacNeil
The family and friends of Margaret (MacDonald) MacNeil, 102, of the RK MacDonald Nursing Home and formerly of Hawthorne St., regret to announce her death which occurred on Wednesday, January 29, 2020.
Born in St. Joseph’s, Antigonish Co., in 1917 to parents William and Isabel (Chisholm) MacDonald, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Steve, and is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Margaret was a proud member of St. Ninian’s CWL and the Clan Donald Society respectively. Her secretarial training, from Mount St. Bernard, afforded her a lifetime of employment beginning and during wartime years in Halifax, and ending in Antigonish at Antigonish Motors and lastly, St. F. X. Extension Department.
Visitation will be held in MacIsaac Funeral Home on Saturday, February 1 from 10 am until time of funeral at 1:00 pm which will be held in St. Ninian Cathedral, Rev. Donald MacGillivray presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Antigonish Food Bank. www.MacIsaacs.ca
