OBITUARIES
Margaret Norma Semler
1932 – 2020
Margaret Norma Semler, age 88, passed away peacefully on October 27 at River Park Gardens Personal Care Home. She will be greatly missed.
Margaret is survived by daughters, Laurell Weske (Bill), and Sharilin Laplante, and grandchildren, Chantelle Sawatzky, Jayson Laplante, and Jynelle Laplante (David). She was predeceased by her husband Edward, her parents Ludwig and Ottilie Schade, siblings Emma, Frieda, Irene, Evelyn, Dorothy, Helen, Alfred, Elmer, John, and Henry, and son-in-law Mike Laplante.
Mom was born on March 4, 1932 in Moosehorn, MB and it was here she met the love of her life, her soul mate, Edward, and they were happily married for 69 years. They did everything together, from farming to everyday household and social activities.
Mom loved spending time with the family, and it brought her great joy when we were all together. Birthdays were special, with Mom always making sure the family went to a nice restaurant to celebrate. Christmas was another favourite time of year for her, she loved decorating for the season and preparing delicious meals.
Mom loved to cook and bake and was so generous with us, the grandchildren, and many others. She also spent many hours crocheting and knitting. Mom loved to garden. She had a huge vegetable garden and many, many flowers which she would check every morning walking with her coffee.
Mom enjoyed working at Eaton’s and the Moosehorn Co-op. She had many friends and could spend hours chatting with her close friend, Mrs. Hasse.
We would like to thank the staff at River Park Gardens for the wonderful care they provided to Mom and for the love they showed her and the family.
A private service will be held on November 3, 2020. Honorary pallbearers were Chantelle Sawatzky, Jayson Laplante, Jynelle Laplante, and David Mulder.
For those who wish, donations may be made in Margaret’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.
Mothers hold their children’s’ hands for a short while, but their hearts forever.
͠When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little but not too long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me but let me go.
For this is a jouney that we all must take
And each must go alone.
It’s all a part of Master’s plan,
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me but let me go!
