Margaret Maureen Murphy
Margaret Maureen Murphy, 86, of Moncton died
peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Moncton Hospital on
March 6, 2020.
Born in Moncton, Maureen was the daughter of William and Emma
(Shea) MacDougall.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters Nancy Murphy, Susan
Murphy Lajoie, Linda Brown, grandchildren Laura, Evan, Emilee, Alexee,
Jay and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband John Ernest Murphy,
sisters Shirley Murphy, Helen (Cubby) Landry, brothers William
(infant), Gerald and Robert.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate
family.
Prior to her marriage, she was employed with the Bank of Nova
Scotia. She was a member of the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church and
attended the Friday mass at the Peoples Park Tower Chapel. She
previously attended St. Bernard’s and
St. Augustine’s churches. She was also a member of the
CWL.Maureen was an avid reader of newspapers with her family
being grateful recipients of many interesting
“clippings” . Maureen loved the game of
bridge, having played in bridge clubs for over 50 years.She
and Ernest volunteered with the Meals On Wheels program. Maureen
enjoyed tending their flower garden.Maureen was a long time active
member of Peoples Park Tower where she had many friends and enjoyed
many of the social activities on offer there.
Her daughters wish to acknowledge the sincere care and
support she received in her final years from the wonderful staff of
Kindred Home Care Services and Peoples Park Tower and extend their
heartfelt thanks.
The family would also like to thank the staff of the Moncton
Hospital for all their excellent and compassionate care over the
years.
Visitation will take place at Fergusons Funeral Home 1657
Mountain Road Moncton (858 1995) on Thursday, March 10, 2020
from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Roman
Catholic Church 52 Falkland St Moncton on Friday, March 11, 2020 at
11:00 am, with Father Phil Mulligan officiating. A reception in the
Parish Hall will follow. Interment will be in Our Lady of
Calvary Cemetery.
Donations in Maureen’s memory can be made to the
Friends of the Moncton Hospital, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or
the Canadian Cancer Society.
