DAY, MARGARET JANE, RN (nee Dawe)
Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family on her 86th Birthday at Pleasant View Towers on November 7, 2020
Left with beautiful memories, the love of her life, her husband Melville (Mick) of 65 years. Her daughters who loved her dearly, Susan Saunders (David), Janet Forward (Wayne) and Peggy Tilley (John). Her only son Gregory Day pre deceased her in February 2019. Also left to morn, her adoring grandchildren who affectionally called her Margie. Philip Day, Christopher Day (BC), Rhys Saunders, Ashlee Turpin (Steven), Gillian O’Neill (Jamie) (AB). Two precious great grandchildren whom she cherished and made her so happy, Harlee Turpin and Jensen O’Neill. (AB). Also left to morn her sister Joyce Chafe (George), brothers Rupert (Paula), Walter (Janet), sisters in law Helen Dawe (Alfred, deceased), Lorraine Day, Gertrude Furneaux (Doug, deceased), Margaret Day (Frank, deceased) Ralph (Millicent) Day, Harold & Elizabeth Day (both deceased) and many nieces and nephews and friends.
Margaret is predeceased by her parents Violet (Dot) and Wilfred (Foof) Dawe. Margaret was a graduate from the SA Grace General School of Nursing in 1955. Throughout her nursing career she worked at the Grace hospital in the Case Room, the OR at the “old” General, Nursing Consultant during the early set up days at the HSC and finished her career at the Canadian Red Cross. She was also President of the Grace Hospital Nurses Alumnae for 13 years, which was a passion she loved. Marg and Mick enjoyed travelling the world and were proud 3 Star Mariners on the cruise lines. When not traveling Marg and Mick loved going to their beloved Cabin in Deer Park. Marg was also a proud member of the Country Garden Club of CBS. Visitation at Barrett’s Funeral Home, Hamilton Ave on Tuesday November 10th from 2-4pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral at Wesley Church Wednesday Nov 11 at 2pm and Internment to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to Wesley Church or Salvation Army or to a charity of your choice.
