Margaret Jakes
January 22, 1922 – September 04, 2020
Margaret Jean Jackes (nee Wilson) passed peacefully in her 99th year at the Chartwell Wenleigh LTC center in Mississauga, Ontario on September 4, 2020 at 6:04 am.
Beloved wife of the late Charles Campbell Jackes (a.k.a. Cam), dedicated daughter to the late Oliver and Annie Wilson, loving mother of David Jackes (Janet) and Arthur Jackes (Pam), devoted grandma/nana to Renee (Renaldo), Kerri (Jim), Nikki (Jose), and Carlin, dear great grandma to Ella, Evan, Vinny, and Wesley, loving aunt to Diane, Margaret and Ken. Predeceased by brother, Harold and sister, Mary.
Margaret was born in Chapleau, Ontario to Oliver Wilson and Annie (nee Dalglish). She trained as a physiotherapist and dutifully enlisted in the Canadian military for World War II. She became a Lieutenant in 1943. One of the Canadian soldiers she cared for in England was Cam. After the war ended, she was in Victoria, BC and he was in Toronto. When Cam discovered her location, he raced across the country to marry the love of his life in 1946. After marriage, she was a dedicated mom and physiotherapist, spending time in Toronto, Mississauga, and Oakville.
Margaret loved to spend her later years reading anything she could get her hands on, playing Bridge with her close friends, and faithfully watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, getting almost every question right; a smart cookie for sure.
Marg will be remembered for her many stories, kind soul, and generous heart; donating faithfully to many charities. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have met her. May she rest in peace knowing she was loved beyond words; truly one of a kind.
As Margaret reached the early 90s, dementia set in and she participated in the Acclaim Health Dementia Adult Day Program, which brought her many smiles throughout the day for a couple of years. Memorial contributions may be made to Acclaim Health (www.acclaimhealth.ca) in her honour.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Admiral Inn, 3500 Billings Ct, Burlington, ON L7N 3N6 on Saturday, September 26, 2020, from 1-4 p.m. Family burial to follow in Admaston, on October 18, 2020, exactly 23 years after the burial of her beloved husband.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Margaret Jakes January 22 1922 September 04 2020..
