Margaret Isabel O’Dell
1931-2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of
Margaret O’Dell of Riverview on April 7, 2020 at Monarch
Hall. Marg was born in Clarendon, New Brunswick to the late Hartley
and Edith (Martin) Wheaton. In addition to her parents, she was
predeceased by son Stephen and daughter Brenda, as well as brothers
Bill and Maurice, and sister-in-law,
Muriel.
Marg was a graduate of Saint John High School, after which
she worked as a stenographer for a number of years before beginning
her family. Marg and her husband Bill spent their early years living
in Saint John and Halifax, before settling in Riverview where they
raised their children. Marg and Bill enjoyed 47 summers at their
cottage in Souris, Prince Edward Island, where she loved tending to
her garden and hosting family and friends. Marg and Bill were
fortunate to travel throughout Europe, the United States and various
parts of Canada. After retirement, they enjoyed spending their winters
in Bradenton, Florida. As well as being a loving and devoted mother
and grandmother, Marg was an avid curler and became a New Brunswick
Seniors Mixed Curling Champion. She enjoyed the outdoors including
walks on the beach where she collected many shells and sea glass that
adorn their cottage. She also loved a good bargain and she and Bill
had many adventures at Flea Markets finding old china and treasured
knickknacks. Marg was always on the go, seldom stopped to rest, and
took great pride in fixing, repairing and maintaining their home and
their cottage.
She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 67
years, William (Bill), sons Mike (Patti) and Peter (Jennifer),
daughter Cathy, and grandchildren Robyn, Austin, Amanda, and James.
She will also be fondly remembered by her niece Linda DuBase and
cousin Barbara (Sterling) Huskins as well as other nieces and nephews
and extended family.
Due to the current restrictions on gatherings, visitation and
a service celebrating her life will take place at a later date.
Donations to the Riverview Boys and Girls Club, or any other local
charity who may be in need during this Pandemic would be greatly
appreciated. The arrangements are entrusted to Cobb’s
Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview
(869-2007). Online condolences can be expressed at
