Obituary
On April 26, 2020, we sadly said goodbye to our wonderful, beloved Mom and grandmother Margaret Bymoen . Our Mom was born on May 31, 1919 near Vesper, Saskatchewan to Edward and Rea Ivall. After completing normal school in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Mom taught school in the Simmie area where she met our dad, Clarence Bymoen. They were married in 1941 and they completed our family with six children, Lorna Robitaille(Noel), Claire, Terry ( Barb), Murray(Linda), Linda Dyck (Dave) and Lauren Schultz( Dennis). We were fortunate to grow up with a mom who was fair, gentle and loving and who was positive and encouraging throughout our lives.
Mom is survived by her children, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She loved visits with family and friends until the very end. Mom was predeceased by her parents, her husband Clarence, her sisters Lois( Tom) Ailsby and Shirley ( Virgil) Ausmus, her brothers Glenneth and Dale, her second husband Walter Penner and several nephews and nieces.
Mom and Dad farmed in the Simmie area and north of Swift Current before moving to Swift Current. They enjoyed times with family, travelling, playing cards and square dancing. Mom was very involved in the First United Church, Swift Current Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Swift Current Genealogic Society and Swift Current Duplicate Bridge Club. With her interest in people, she made many friends in the various clubs she was involved in. Mom continued her interest in education by teaching kindergarten classes at First United Church before that program was integrated into the school system. Mom embraced every activity she participated in including reading countless books, playing several musical instruments, sewing beautiful clothes, researching genealogy and hosting wonderful meals for family and friends. Her interest in fashion never wavered and her wardrobe always included lovely outfits accessorized with jewellery. She never hesitated to help where it was needed and she held many volunteer positions during her life. After Dad’s passing in 1971, Mom spent a lot of her time playing and teaching bridge. She was married to Walter Penner in 1977 until his passing in 1994. Mom and Walter were able to spend cherished time visiting family while they lived in Mesa, Arizona for many winters.
While it is difficult to say goodbye, we are comforted in knowing that Mom had a blessed and fulfilled live for almost 101 years and that our love for her will remain with us forever.
Our family would like to thank Dr Lee and the staff at The Meadows for their care, kindness and compassion.
