LAFONTAINE, Marcel
The family announces with great sorrow his passing at his home in Coniston, surrounded by his loving family, Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at the age of 88 years. Beloved husband of Esther (née Steffan). Son of the late Lionel and Jeannette (née Asselin) Lafontaine. Loving and devoted father of Maureen Gervais (Denis), Nicole Senra (Augie) and Mark Lafontaine (Teresa). Dear brother of Denise Lapointe (late Vital), Claire Michaud (late Sylvio) and Henriette Landry (Albert). Predeceased by his brothers Richard Lafontaine (Hélène), Daniel Lafontaine (Adrienne) and Ronald Lafontaine. Cherished grandfather of Christopher, Aaron, Brent, Kyle, Krista, Emily, Alissa and great-grandaughter, Jacqueline. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends from both Canada and the United States. Marcel worked at INCO as a mechanic. He was a founding member of the Coniston Curling Club, served as President for a number of years, and in 2001 his curling team scored an 8 ender at the Idylwylde Golf and Country Club. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion, an original member of the Coniston Twin Stacks Golf Club, player and manager of the Coniston Flyers hockey team, as well as manager and player of the Coniston blooper ball league. In keeping with the family’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
