La célébration de
Marcel Kumli
30 janvier 1922 –
25 avril 2020
Marcel Kumli passed away peacefully on the 25th of April at the age of 98, in the Notre-Dame hospital in Montreal. He leaves behind his two sons Paul (Irene) and Marcel (Mary Ann). Predeceased by his loving wife Marie-Louise née Knoblauch (2012) and son Nicolas (1970). Also predeceased by his sister Martha (Hermann), brother Fritz (Marie), and brothers-in-law Peter and Hans, and sisters-in-law Susi (Willi), and Veronica. Survived by sisters-in-law Dora and Anita, and many nieces and nephews in Switzerland and California.
Marcel grew up in Switzerland where he apprenticed as a wood pattern maker. He moved with his family to Lachine in 1957 where he worked for many years at General Electric Dominion Engineering. His real passion was watercolour, painting the local Montreal and Quebec scenes. Later, he and Marie-Louise were able to spend winters in the Florida Keys where he painted the sunny islands. Marcel spent many later years at the Résidences Floralies Lachine where he could live peacefully among friends and helpful and friendly nurses and staff.
We would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Lachine and Notre-Dame hospitals who took good care of Marcel under very difficult conditions during his last few days. Cremation has taken place at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex. Burial and a celebration of life will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. Share online memories and condolences at www.mountroyalcem.com.
