Mandy O’Brien Kerr Thursday December 10th 2020

Mandy Pamela O’Brien (nee Kerr)
(December 11th, 1957 – December 10th, 2020)
After fighting a two-year battle with cancer with the utmost courage, grace and dignity, Mandy Pamela O’Brien (nee Kerr) passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at the Bridge Hospice in Warkworth, Ontario on December 10th, 2020. Mandy was born in Montréal, Québec, daughter of the late Peter and Susan Kerr, both natives of Glasgow, Scotland. The family would later put down roots in Midland, Ontario, before resettling in the area of Campbellford, Ontario during Mandy’s teenage years. It was here that Mandy would eventually meet her husband, start her family and fulfil her career in education.
Mandy leaves behind her caring and devoted husband of over 40 years, Duncan, her loving children Carly (Paulo) and Stuart (Jillian), her grandson Logan, and her brother Robin. She also leaves behind her mother-in-law Ann O’Brien (nee McIntosh), and her brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews: Michael and Gisèle (Patrick and Daniel), Donald, Kelly and Brian, Cathy and Simon (Tristan), and Colleen and Mario (Diego and Lola).
Mandy was a very kind and compassionate woman who had a great love of children. She was overjoyed to meet her first grandson in January of this year. His birth helped to provide Mandy with the hope and courage to continue her fight. We know she will be watching over him for many years to come and he will continue to be reminded how much his Granny loved him.
For 40 years Mandy poured her heart and soul into educating children as an Educational Assistant with the Peterborough, Victoria, Northumberland and Clarington Catholic School Board. Over those years she enriched the lives of her students and their families through kindness, humility and creativity. Her reputation for going above and beyond to ensure the growth and success of her students preceded her.
The family would like to express thanks and gratitude to Dr. Koneru and the staff at the Northumberland Hills Hospital Cancer and Supportive Care Clinic. They would also like to thank Dr. Parks and the staff at the Bridge Hospice for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bridge Hospice, Warkworth.
