Obituary
It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Malcolm Young, age 70 years, of Chanceport, NL announce his peaceful passing at his residence surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, May 21, 2020.
He is predeceased by his parents William & Muriel (Burt) Young, infant son Rocky Frederick, sister Joan Jenkins, brothers Rocky & Eugene, parents-in-law Fred & Eloise Blake and sisters-in-law Louise Blake and Ruby Blake.
Malcolm married Yvonne (Blake) of Too Good Arm, NL on November 29, 1969, together they had 2 children, son Rodney (Bonnie Perry), Cottlesville, NL, daughter Madeline, Chanceport, NL, grandchildren Stephen, Whitby, ON, Travis, Fort McMurray, AB, Tyler, Fort McMurray, AB, great-grandchildren Lauchlin, Lincoln, Nash, brothers Norman (Linda), Summerford, NL, Gary (Bernice), Pickering, ON, Bill (Belinda), Chanceport, NL, sisters Judy (Guy) Jenkins, Summerford, NL, Phyllis (Ken) Rideout, Valley Pond, NL, Velma (Steve Rose), St. John’s, NL, Ruth (Danny) Boyde, Englee, NL, Janice (Edward), Ajax, ON, brothers-in-law Perry (Marilyn) Blake, Whitby, ON, Frank Blake, Oshawa, ON, Bill Blake, Niagara, ON, a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a large circle of friends.
Malcolm worked as a logger from a young age, then went fishing for a few years, but always seemed to find himself back in the woods as a logger until retirement. After retirement he spent most of his time in the woods, cutting his own firewood. He also loved to cook, especially salt meat “jiggs dinner” with his exceptional doughboys, fish & brewis including the salt pork. Enjoying his traditional meals having no time for the fancy modern feasts of today was the way he liked it. Malcolm also loved animals having cats & dogs all his life.
Resting at New World Island Funeral Home, Summerford, NL. Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic there will be a private family viewing followed by a graveside service.
