Malcolm Mac Nickerson 19312020

Malcolm “Mac” Nickerson
1931-2020
It is with broken hearts that the family of Malcolm Brenton
Nickerson announces his passing on Nov 18, 2020. Malcolm
passed away peacefully at his home in Rusagonis Station, NB, following
a lengthy illness. Born on April 12, 1931, in Forbes Point, NS, he was
the son of the late Dexter and Lulu (Butler) Nickerson. He was one of
7 siblings. To his friends, he was known as Mac or Nick, and by his
family, lovingly called Dad and
Grampy.
In Feb 1956, Mac married the love of his life, Kathleen
(Kaye) Brothers. The couple was happily married until Kaye’s
death in 2018. Mac was a member of the Blackwatch, and upon
retirement, was employed by CE at Base Gagetown. Mac enjoyed the
outdoors, especially fishing. In his later years he enjoyed spending
time with his four-legged companion,
Rosie.
Mac will be greatly missed by his girls Karen (Jerry) Graham
and Kathy (Gordon) Fredericks; and his sons Mark (Carol), Kevin
(Deana), Bruce (Darlene), and Blaine (Deanna). Grampy was
especially proud of his 14 grandchildren and his 18
great-grandchildren. Mac is further survived by 3 siblings, as well as
many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his wife of 62
years, Kaye, and his parents, Mac was predeceased by 3
siblings.
Mac appreciated the love and support he received from his
family. A special thank you to his personal support worker, Marilena,
for the exceptional care and support offered to both Mac and his
family throughout his illness. To Mac’s neighbor Shawn,
thank you for the support you provided, and to Katie for
helping us through his final days. The family would also like to thank
the staff at the DECH and the Oromocto Extramural nursing team.
Fulfilling his wish to stay in his home would not have been possible
without the support of neighbors, friends, family, and health care
professionals. You are all special kinds of heroes, and Mac, as well
as the family are blessed by your kindness and
care.
There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Mac’s life will
be held at a later date. Donations can be made in
Mac’s memory to the Oromocto Legion Branch # 93 and the
Rusagonis Station Cemetery Fund.
