Major Amelia “Doris” Reid
February 27, 1930 – September 1, 2020
Passed peacefully away on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at the Health Sciences Centre, Major Amelia “Doris” Reid, age 90 years. Predeceased by her parents John & Lucy Reid; brothers Aubrey (Clara), James (Gertie), and Fred; sisters Lydia (Leslie), and Pearl (Victor); nephew-in-law Stephen Legge. Doris leaves behind with precious and loving memories her niece Lucy Legge; great-nephew Leslie Legge (Denise); great-great-niece Morgan, whom Aunt Doris thought the sun, the moon and the stars shone from. Morgan always put a huge smile on Aunt Doris’ face; great-nephew Robert Legge (Joy), and great-niece Jenny Reid Fudge; special friends Alfreda Butler and Clara Anstey of Glenbrook Villa, St. John’s; extended family and friends. Special thanks and gratitude to the medical staff who treated Aunt Doris in the past five weeks at the Health Sciences Centre whom she had great praise. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue with visitation on Friday, September 4th from 2pm-4pm. Funeral service to be held from Barrett’s Memorial Chapel on Saturday, September 5th at 2pm. Interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Blackmarsh Road. In lieu of flowers, donations in Doris’ memory may be made to the Salvation Army Glenbrook Lodge.
