With heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother Madeline Maher (nee Fowler), age 90. Mom passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital Monday, September 28 after a short illness. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband, James Maher on April 8, 1998 her father & mother: Richard & Angela (Fowler/Delaney) her sister Gladys (Tobin); brothers; Andrew, Edward; her son Noel, daughter in-law Joyda and her granddaughter Allison.
Leaving to mourn with cherished memories her loving sons & daughters: Rick (Marjorie); Andy (Barb); Diane (Herb) Boland; Clara(Doug) Dunne; Gloria(John) Brazil; Jeanette(Randy) Kenny; Brenda(Robin) Chidley; Jim(Gloria); Joan(Gerry) O’Keefe; Ada(Keith) Kenny; & Stephen(Sharon)
Her grandchildren: Christopher(Ronnie),Valerie(Troy), Geoffrey(Adam), Brian(Jessica), Andrea(Jason), Bradley(Mulan), Adam(Kristyn), Krista(Karen), Kerry, Danielle(Andrew), Douglas, Charlene(Marvin), John Will(Natalie), Dennis (Chealsea), Timothy, Amanda(Nick), Robyn(Shane), Matthew, Abby, Stacey(Ryan) & Liam. Her great grandchildren: Thomas, Brayden, Liam, Alex, Lexi, Preston, William, Hailey, Alison, John, & Miley
Mom was a loving devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, she will also be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews, friends as well as her other family at Alderwood Retirement Centre in Witless Bay. Mom was a very kind, considerate and caring person and always put others before herself. Gentle and patient right to the end. Everyone who met her loved her. She loved each and every one of us the same unconditionally.
A special thank you to the doctors and nursing staff of 4 West for their kindness and compassion. Also special thankyou to the staff at Alderwood Retirement Centre for all their kindness and care during her years there.
A public visitation in keeping with current Covid-19 restrictions will be held at Fahey’s Funeral Home, Fermeuse on Wednesday, September30, 2020 from 2 p.m. – 9 p.m. Funeral mass Thursday, Oct 1st at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Fermeuse at 11 a.m with cremation to follow. Burial at Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery, Aquaforte Oct. 2nd Friday 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Autism Society of Nl & Lab.
Though she will be missed immensely we are sure that heaven is a much brighter place since mom’s arrival. Our loss, Heaven’s gain.
