Obituary
The passing of Lyle Hilton Simms, age 84 years of Angusville, Manitoba occurred at Shoal Lake/Strathclair Health Centre on June 4, 2020 surrounded by many loved ones by his side in his last days.
He was born to parents Arthur and Edna Simms in Crawford Park, Manitoba and grew up on a farm near Foxwarren with siblings George, Clarence, Edith, Ray and Ruth. His working career included the Lows Brothers and Taskers Enterprises after which he started his own construction business in 1972. He transitioned to retirement working as maintenance at Assiniboia Downs.
Lyle married Betty in 1955 and they were blessed with five children; Debbie, Rhonda, Della, Reg and Dawn as well as many precious grandchildren and great grandchildren. Later in life, Lyle met Stella Klym and began a relationship and was embraced like a father to her children, Stephan (Holly) and Sheila (Randy) and loved by their five children and five grandchildren.
Lyle loved sports and was active playing, coaching and watching baseball and hockey. He spent many hours at the Foxwarren rink and his children fondly remember watching him play as a goaltender. He loved music and enjoyed playing his 12 string guitar which he passed down to his grandson James. An animal lover, Lyle had many pets throughout his life, most recently his dog Laddie and the many neighborhood cats who called his porch a home. He was also passionate about hunting and fishing and loved spending time in the outdoors with family and friends. More recently, Lyle flew with Stephan in his PA34 Piper Seneca and he loved it. He was thrilled by the spectacular views and joy of being up in the air. Lyle loved his family, was incredibly kind hearted and easy to talk to and was rarely seen without a smile on his face.
Lyle is survived by his five children; Debbie, Rhonda (Byron), Della (Morley), Reginald (Melanie) and Dawn (Peter); by Stella, Stephan (Holly) and Sheila (Randy) along with his many grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as his brothers, sisters, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
