1922-2020
Barkhouse, Lucy Ester- age 97 of Middle Cornwall, passed away
peacefully with family by her side in North Queens Nursing Home. She
was the oldest residing resident in Cornwall prior to being placed in
a nursing home at age 96.
Born in Union Square, she was the youngest daughter of the
late Harvey and Estella (Sawler) Barkhouse. She is survived by her
children Brydon (Muriel), Cornwall, twins Irene (John), Halifax, Ira
(Doris), Cornwall; grandchildren Rene (Jackie), Randy (Nancy), Bernice
(John), Kyle (Sherry), Tina (Chris), Amanda (Byron), Kim (Brian), and
Aaron and 16 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Moody
Barkhouse; brothers James, Brice, Herbert; sisters Kathleen and Alice;
granddaughter Ruby; grandson Denny; sons-in-law Ralph and
Mervin.
Lucy was one of the founding members of the Auxiliary of the
Cornwall Fire Department and a long time member of the Middle Cornwall
Baptist Church. She was well known for her chocolate cake and her
strong will to live. Funeral service will be 2pm Saturday
in New Cornwall Baptist Church, Rev. Tom Davison Officiating.
Burial in Middle Cornwall Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only.
Memorial donations may be made to the Middle Cornwall Memorial Gardens
or the Cornwall Fire Department, The Canadian Cancer Society or the
charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the
R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, where on-line condolences may be
