Louise Braun
January 26, 1933 – April 30, 2020
After a lengthy illness with Alzheimer’s Disease, Louise Braun took sick and passed away quickly on the evening of Thursday, April 30, 2020 in Winnipeg. She is now in the presence of her personal Lord and Saviour.
Louise was born on January 26, 1933 in Fisher Branch, Manitoba, the fifth child of Germain & Frances Martin. She is predeceased by her parents, and all her siblings. She was raised on a farm and went to a country school completing her education after Grade 6.
When she was 15, she moved to Winnipeg and worked at the Municipal Hospitals on the Polio ward preparing food for the patients. She lived in residence with her sisters Yvonne and Marie. A few years later she met her future husband John Braun at Alliance Tabernacle. They were married on June 2, 1957 at the Bergthaler Church in Plum Coulee.
They began their married life together in Winnipeg and soon after built a home on Hudson Street and started attending Calvary Temple at this time. They started a family when they adopted their daughter Brenda. Brenda was delivered to their home on Louise’s birthday, January 26, 1962. Shortly after they moved to Townsend Avenue and they adopted a second child, Bradley. Louise & John had so much love, they had opened their hearts and home to two adopted children. Soon after they moved again, to Clairmont Street to renovate their two-story home and Louise gave birth their third child, Bentley. After a few years, they moved out of the Winnipeg and built another house on Roblin Blvd and Louise had her fourth child Kevin and now the family was complete. Soon after they moved to Springstein, Manitoba to raise their family.
Mom was a very loving and affectionate mother and wife. She was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She loved to sing while working in the garden and could usually be heard singing or humming a favourite song. Mom loved to care for and play with her children, with many days filled with fun & laughter. Wherever she lived, she was involved in the local church as a Sunday School teacher, Crusader Leader for girls, Women’s Ministries and cooking and baking at summer church camps with her sisters. Mom loved to serve her Lord with the gifts she was given. Her smile, hugs, laughter and love were evident to everyone around her and she loved taking on the role of Grandma! Mom had so much fun with her all her grandchildren and prayed for each one daily.
Once their children had all grown, mom and dad moved to Swan River, then Ninette, and then finally moved back to Winnipeg. Mom loved knitting, crocheting, sewing, gardening, reading, long walks and putting puzzles together with dad. Mom and dad also started cooking together and continued to entertain friends and family.
Mom had a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease was admitted to the Poseidon Care Home on November 4, 2016. Mom & dad still were able to celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary with many family and friends, enjoying an afternoon visiting and sharing memories on June 2, 2017.
