Obituary
It is with sadness and recognition of a life well lived that the family of Louise Friesen announces her passing following a brief illness.
Louise was predeceased by: her parents George (Gerhard) and Elsie Victoria Andres, her husband David, and her brothers Peter and Harry. She is survived by: her brothers George (Wilma), Roy (Joan), and sister Elsie (Lloyd), sister in law Mary Andres, sons Terence (Lorraine), Rodney (Laural), and Murray (Patricia), grandchildren Adam (Nicole), Sarah, Tyler (Lindsey), Jordan, Andrea (Mark), Elyse (Paul), Ethan (Kambria) and her great grandchildren Victoria, Keaton, Duncan, Payton, Hana, Gracie, Ellie, Declan, Addison, Bryson, Salisa, and Ethoria.
Louise was born in Rosthern, Saskatchewan, raised in Spiritwood, and worked as a Nursing Assistant in Waldheim Hospital, Kindersley Hospital, and the Royal University Hospital. She was known for her baking, cooking, and hosting family gatherings. Louise was an avid bowler, golfer, curler and square dancer. She also enjoyed attending the music and dance recitals and sporting events of her grandchildren. She was a volunteer in the Ruth Mission Society of Nutana Park Mennonite Church and the Summer Snack Program at Westmount Community School. Louise will be remembered for the many quilts she sewed for grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She enjoyed the winters spent in the sunshine at Mesa Spirit Resort in Arizona.
Louise valued the visits from her sister in law Mary Andres and her friend Collette. She appreciated the weekly phone calls from her nieces, grandchildren and family members.
The family extends their appreciation to the staffs of Mill Creek and Lakeview Lodge in Kelowna where Louise spent the last years of her life.
The family will gather at a later date to place her remains, along side her husband David, at the Waldheim Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Louise’s name to the “Summer Snack Program” c/o the Saskatoon and District Labour Council. (saskatoondlc.ca) or the CNIB.
Louise will be remembered for her strong will, independence, and her love of family. She was so very proud of her grandchildren, their families, and their accomplishments. She will be missed.
