Louisa Gertrude Cooper
1938-2020
We are saddened to announce the passing of our Mom, Louisa
Cooper, on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 in the Valley Regional Hospital,
Kentville. Mom was a daughter of the late Joseph and Helen
McNally of Morden, Nova Scotia. Mom owned and operated the Kentville
Telephone Answering Service for twenty years. She then
became a valued employee with Purolator Courier until her forced
retirement due to MS (Multiple Sclerosis). Mom maintained a
positive outlook on life throughout her illness. She was an
inspiration to our family and many friends. Mom was a long
time member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church and
instrumental in establishing the Christian Concern Committee.
Throughout her life she was a member, a volunteer and/or a supporter
of many organizations and committees serving her community and beyond.
She is survived by her beloved husband, William
“Bernie”, Kentville; sister, Cecelia (the late
Duane) Baltzer, Burlington, Ontario; daughter, Kathleen McNally,
Dartmouth; son, Derek (Karen) Atwater, Kentville; grandchildren,
Regina (James) Papp, Middleboro, Massachusetts, Michael McNally
Soucie, Calgary, Alberta, Brett Atwater and Brady Atwater, both of
Kentville; step-daughters, Deborah (Michael) Dunham, Dartmouth, Marion
(the late Burton) Cooper Sleep, Berwick, Joann (Terry) Carty, Garland;
many step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mom
was predeceased by her son, Dale Atwater; sisters, Marion, Florence
and Alice; brothers, Francis, Joseph and Robert. Our family wishes to
acknowledge the staff of Medical A of Valley Regional Hospital where
Mom received wonderful care from a very dedicated and compassionate
staff. As per Mom’s wishes, there will be no
visitation. A service to celebrate her life will be held at
11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2020 in St. Joseph’s
Roman Catholic Church, Belcher Street, Kentville, Father Gerald
Saulnier officiating. Following the service, the family
invites you to the church hall for a reception provided by the
Catholic Women’s League. A private family interment will
take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville. Family flowers only
please. If you wish, donations in memory of Mom can be made
to the Valley Hospice Foundation or the Fundy Food Bank, both located
in Kentville. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White
Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
