Lorraine’s Obituary
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Lorraine Fish. She died with her daughters by her side on Friday July 31, 2020. She was loved and cherished by her family and her many, many friends. She is survived by her husband Frank Fish; children Caron (Dave) Pelletier, Sandi (Dave) Hutchinson, Barb (Rod) Markewich, Roberta (Daryl) Renaud, Brian (Marie) Fish and Donna (Richard) Gluwchyknski; grandchildren Aaron, Joel, Sarah, Michael, Lou, Nathan, Ali, Tia, Jason, Daniel, Vic, Frank, Lindsay, Graeme, Alex, Kelli and Lucille; great grandchildren Parker, Shale, Oakland, Emighyn, Victoria, Daisy, Braydon, Easton, Sophia, Felix, Mason, Aubri, Raiden, Sierra and Austin; siblings Clifford (Sue) Norum, Muriel Johnston, Arlene Hanson, Carolyn (Joe) MacNeill, Shirley (Jack) Norum and sister in law Bernie Norum. She was predeceased by her mother and father Ester and Arnold Norum; brothers Gerald Norum and Raymond Norum; brothers in law Dave Johnston, Carl Hanson, and Robert Fish. Mom was born in Simpson in 1933 and lived on a farm outside of Imperial until after WW2, then the family moved into Imperial. When mom finished high school in Imperial, she moved to Moose Jaw to further her education. It was here in Moose Jaw where she met, fell in love, and married Frank in 1954. They celebrated their 65th Anniversary last September. Mom was very busy with her six children, but she had time not only to cook and clean, but to make all the children’s clothes. She made time for her friends and she and dad always made time for dancing. Mom loved to dance! As we grew older, she also found a new passion in painting. She was a beautiful painter. She painted and then taught for many years at Timothy Eaton’s Centre. Mom wanted our family to remember her for her sensibility, good times, family gathering and good food. She wrote, “If I had my life to live again, I would probably do the same thing. Everyone makes mistakes and probably regrets saying or doing things – But hey, do what you like doing and do it well, make the best of what or who you are”. Our family is grateful to all who cared for mom during her long illness. First and foremost, the loving care and friendship given to mom from Vi, and the staff at Ambulatory care at the hospital. You treated mom like a queen during these past two years. She loved you all like family. Thank you as well to the lab staff at the hospital; you were such an important part of mom’s care. We would like to thank everyone at the Bentley. Mom told us to tell all of you she loved it there. A special thank you to Bonnie and Denise who were so helpful to our family during moms last days there. Thank you to Palliative Care team and to the nurse and care staff at Pioneers lodge; you were wonderful in keeping mom comfortable in her last few days. There will be a small private funeral at this time, and we hope to have a large celebration of her life at a later date. Please no flowers, rather donations may be made to the Timothy Eatons Garden Senior Centre.
“So long, it’s been good knowing you, Bye Bye for now,
We miss you mom and love you lots”
