HADLEY, Lorenzo “Rennie” Raymond
Maguire – age 82, passed away on Wednesday,
August 12, 2020, in the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish. Born
in Mulgrave on February 16, 1938, he was a son of the late George B.
and Kathleen (Maguire) Hadley. He was predeceased by his loving wife
of 47 years, Norma (Muise); sister, Pauline and brother, Michael;
daughter-in-law, Pam. He is survived by his children, Randy (Shiela),
Jeffrey (Wanda) and Susan (Murray Layden); grandchildren, Sean, Simon,
Samuel, Jeff (Angie), Elise (Justin), Devon (Amanda), Derek (Julie),
Blake, Kendra; great-grandchildren, Abby, Connor, Layla, Cole, Nora,
Jane and Jaxon; brothers, George, Peter and Philip.
Rennie was a steward on the MV Bluenose out of Yarmouth, a
barber, a plumber and a stevedore at Mulgrave wharf.
“Rennie” was a true family man. Family meant everything to
him. Rennie enjoyed a good game of badminton, winning a few trophies
but his favorite pastime was playing cards at the kitchen table with
family and friends. He was known to many family members as “Real
Estate Rennie” having owned many rental properties. Rennie was a
member of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Mulgrave where he
attended most Sundays. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion,
Branch 37, Mulgrave. Special thank you to the staff of the R.K.
MacDonald Nursing Home.
Visitation will be from 12-4 p.m. on Sunday in Dennis
Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville St., Port Hawkesbury. In
keeping with COVID-19 and social distancing guidelines, face masks
must be worn during visitation. A graveside service will be
held at 11 a.m. on Monday in St. Andrew’s Anglican Cemetery,
Mulgrave with Rev. Susan Slater officiating. Memorial donations in
Rennie’s memory may be made to the Mulgrave and Area Resting
