Obituary
Lois passed away peacefully, from natural causes, at Eden Gardens, Nanaimo, at the age of 81.
Lois was born in Edmonton, AB to Norman and Frieda (Degen) Whitson. She moved to Vancouver, BC, with her family at a young age. In 1964 she moved to Powell River, BC, where she married Robert (Bob) Fix, raised their two children as well as her youngest sister. As well as a homemaker and mother, her various jobs included the switchboard at Powell River Hospital, the office at Town Center Mall and floral arranging at Corri Lynn’s. She also had her own wedding shop, Missy’s, where she fashioned beautiful creations and memories that she had such a natural passion and talent for. She also volunteered her time for various committees, Sea Fair being just one. Another of her talents was sewing. She made exquisite Barbie doll outfits for many years. She helped make many little girls happy.
In the early 1990’s, she moved by herself to Courtenay, BC. She was always a very giving and generous woman, donating to those who were far less fortunate than herself.
In 2016, Lois was diagnosed with dementia and other underlying health issues. She moved into care facilities, Eden Gardens being her final home. She had a great caring spirit, and was described as feisty and spicey! She loved to laugh. She touched many lives and hearts throughout her 81 years. She loved her friends and family immeasurably.
Lois is survived by her daughter Tana Fairley (nee Fix), husband Noel and their children Jamie, Brett and Mikayla, and by her son Jeff Fix. She will be dearly missed by her sisters Joan, Judy and Sherry, as well as many nieces, nephews and special friends.
A Celebration of Life is to be held at a future date.
No funeral by request.
