Ms. Linda Champion passed away peacefully at her residence, the Willowview Personal Care Home in Reston, MB, on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at the age of 71.
Linda Marie Champion was born to Hester and Thomas Smithson of Pipestone, MB. on April 23, 1949. After receiving her education in Melita, she married Russell Champion and together they had four children.
In 1988, Linda moved to Boissevain where she met her soulmate of 22 years, George Opperman. They eventually settled in Killarney and continued to share their lives together until George’s passing in 2010. Linda continued to live in Killarney until October of 2018, when she moved to Brandon to begin cancer treatments. Unable to return home due to complications, she remained in hospital until moving into Willowview Personal Care Home in Reston.
Linda was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Clark, Christopher and Ross; sisters, Hester (Patsy) Tilbury and Margaret Weins.
Left to celebrate her life are her four children, Carl, Bonnie, David (Crystal) and Steven (Jennifer); eleven grandchildren; brothers, George, William and Ray; sister, Lou; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend, Trevor Dunham.
A private family funeral service will be held at a later date.
