Linda’s Obituary
BURKE (BERNIER, Linda Madeline – passed away peacefully on Friday, October 23, 2020. Linda was born in Hubbard’s Point, Yarmouth County and was a daughter to the late Rémi and Delphine (Doucette) Hubbard. Linda lived most of her adult life in Halifax and enjoyed many years working at Robert Simpsons. Linda spent her later years at her home in Sluice Point where she enjoyed quilting, knitting and many hours working in her garden. Surviving are her son, Peter (Mary) Bernier as well as her grandchildren, Jason (Carla) Bernier and Nicole (Mark) Landry and great grandchildren, Malia, Angelina, William, Emily, Blake and Lauren all of Halifax as well as sisters Mildred Doucette (Yarmouth) and Celeste Dastous (Hamilton, Ontario). Linda was predeceased by her husbands, Oliver Bernier and Avite Burke as well as by brothers Leslie, Alvin, Louis, Raymond, John, Bernard, Paul and Adolphe; sisters, Helen, Zeta and Delphine. The family would like to thank the staff at Caritas Retirement Home as well as the medical and nursing staff at Abby Lane 9L for their excellent care of Linda. Visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday with prayers at 7 p.m. at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral mass will be held 11:30 am, Friday, October 30 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Amirault’s Hill, Father Albéni d’Entremont officiating. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, seating may be limited at the funeral home and church (immediate family will be given priority for seating), social distancing guidelines must be followed and masks are mandatory. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. It has been requested that there be family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House or to the VON.
