Grace brought joy, unconditional love and meaning to the lives of her children Deborah (David Craig), Alison (James Anstey), Victoria (Trevor Arbuckle), Robert (Brenda) and Heather (Gordon Penny) as well as many nieces and nephews. Grace was grandmother to eleven: Robyn (Alfred Sanford), Erin (Trevor Lewis), Laura (Luke Kroeker), Kathryn (Michael Simone), Kyle, Jonathan (Lisa), Robert, Ian (Katrina), Jenny (Michael Cotter), Stefanie (Mark Noseworthy), and Ronnie (Britany) and a great-grandmother to ten: Logan, Georgia, Jaxon, Brody, Jake, Felicity, Elliot, Judah, Kate and Nora. She is survived by her dearly loved brother Randolph (Jean, deceased), brothers-in-law Gerald (Maude, deceased), and Graham (Verna). She is preceded in death by her first husband Walter Gordon Skanes and her second husband Frank Green.
Grace Whiteway was born on January 9, 1932 in Bishop’s Falls to Lillian and Josiah Whiteway. Grace worked in the lady’s department in the family business and volunteered as an organist at St. Andrews Anglican Church for 40 years before moving to St. John’s in 2013. “Wherever you are, wherever you go,
Always remember and always know
That drifting cloud? That’s me thinking of you.
That butterfly on your shoulder? That’s me hugging you.
That bright sun? That’s me beaming at you.
That soft breeze? That’s me kissing you.
That feeling you always have in your heart? That’s me loving you.”
