Lillian “Lu” D. Roy
1948-2020
It is with deep sadness that we announce
the passing of Lillian “Lu” Dorothy
Roy, age 72, of Amherst. Lillian passed away
on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care
Centre while surrounded by loving family.
Born in Killams Mills, NB, she was a
daughter of the late Rev. Medley and Doris (Wadden)
Spence.
Lillian (Lu) enjoyed selling Avon, word
search puzzles, adult coloring and listening to music. What
she loved the most was time spent with family and friends (and her
little dog, Boo Boo). Whether gathering at the shore playing
board games into the wee hours or the morning, talking on the phone,
or simply sitting down to a lovely meal.
Her faith in God, and the love of her
family and friends brought her through many trials in her
life. Despite all of life’s storms, by the grace of God, Lu
retained a gentle, kind, and loving spirit. It was felt by
all who had the privilege of meeting her.
Lillian will be dearly missed by her
daughter Doris Roy, Amherst, her dear grandson J.J. Dorrington,
Amherst and her brother Jonathan Spence (Tammy Wheaton), Amherst, NS;
as well as her special friends Shirley Farrell, Barb McAllister, Pat
Howell, and Barb Landers.
She was predeceased by her husband Ulric
Joseph Roy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the
Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church
St, Amherst, NS (902-667-8777) where visitation will be held on
Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Lillian’s funeral
service will take place at the Jones Family Funeral Centre, Amherst,
with Rev. Jonathan Cole officiating, on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at 2
pm. Burial will take place at the Amherst Cemetery
immediately following the funeral. In keeping with COVID-19
restrictions, masks are required inside the funeral home.
Please call 902-667-8777 to pre-register if you will be attending the
funeral. Preregistration is not required for
visitation.
Donations may be made to the Heart and
Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Diabetes, or the charity of your
choice, in Lillian’s memory.
