Obituary
Born Feb 12, 1934 in Glasgow Scotland, Lilias died peacefully on Monday Dec 7, 2020, in her own home, with family at her side. The daughter of David and Georgina Moir (a Glasgow policeman and a nurse-midwife), Lilias followed her mother into nursing. Seeking adventure — and having been forbidden by her father from taking a job in South Africa — she travelled to Canada and took a position at St Thomas Elgin General in 1957. There, needing an escort to the hospital dance, she was introduced to a handsome young Dunwich farmer whom she married a year later. Lilias and Duncan McKillop shared a rich and loving marriage for 50 years until Duncan’s sudden death in 2008.
Lilias is survived by her sons, Scott (Carol) and Graeme (Jan) McKillop, her 4 grandchildren, Bailey (Denver) Greer, Alexandra, MacKenzie and Hugh McKillop, her great-granddaughter Marigold Greer, and a dear cousin June (Lloyd) Brown in Perthshire, Scotland.
Lilias was a vibrant member of her community and church, and many will mourn the loss of her loving and generous spirit.
A private family service will be held on Saturday, December 12th and, as requested by Lilias, a grand party will be held at the farm on a sunny summer day next year.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be welcomed at the West Elgin Daffodil Auxiliary.
