Lila (Loli) Edith Mikkelson (nee Serres)
23 September 1921 – 10 September 2020
Loli was born in the Federated States of Malay where her father managed a rubber plantation near Kuala Pilah. She came to Canada with her parents in 1925 to a fruit ranch at Harrop. During WWII she made uniforms for the Armed Forces in Calgary. She married Melvin Mikkelson in 1951. She lived on the Nelson north shore for over 50 years. She was a member of the Kootenay Quilters Guild for many years.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Melvin in 1980, her brother Alan Serres in 2000; and her sister Barbara Beecher in 2012; and is survived by her sister Marjorie Kehoe of Olds, Alberta, and several nephews and nieces.
The family would like to thank those residents of Ridgewood Road for their kindness to her, which enabled her to live so long in her home.
