Lewis’ Obituary
CHANCE HARBOUR – Lewis Herbert Pitts, age 80, Chance Harbour, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020 at home, surrounded by his family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Lewis Lester and Hazel (Davidson) Pettipas. Prior to retirement, Lewis was employed with the Town of New Glasgow Water Works Department for 19 years. In earlier years, he worked in the woods, a passion he carried throughout his life. Lewis enjoyed working old muscle cars of which the Mustang 429 Mach 1 was his favourite. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34, New Glasgow, where he and his wife, Louella, played in the mixed dart league. Lewis was a straightforward gentleman, who was a levee of wisdom and possessed a “big” heart.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Louella Jean “Lou” (Misner); daughter, Jean Ann Pitts, Stellarton; sons, Lewis H. Pitts (Mary Pearl Walsh), Hillside; Mark A. (Sandy) Pitts, Chance Harbour; granddaughter, Kelsey Snyder and Magan Grant; sister, Doris Denny, Kingston, Ont.; brother, Donny Davidson, Wooler, Ont.; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, David.
In keeping with Lewis’ wishes his family will celebrate his life privately.
