Leroy “Roy” Alexander Carter
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Leroy “Roy” Alexander Carter of Kingston, at the age of 70 years young. Roy passed away peacefully at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton, on Sunday, November 15, 2020. Roy was born in Berwick, at the old Western Kings Memorial Hospital, son of the late George Magnus Robert Carter. Roy is survived by his wife of 41 years, the former Janet Lee Nicoll of Kingston, NS; sons, Brandon Carter, Berwick; Nathan Carter, daughter-in-law, Tabitha, granddaughters, Ayla and Callie, Trenton ON. He will be missed by his fury buddies, Lily and Larry. Also survived by his loving family, mother, Joan Eloise Thornhill, Middleton; sisters, Mary Jane (John), Kingston; Janet (Clyde), Bridgewater; brothers, Robert (Janey), Berwick; Kevin (Rosane), Lincoln, NB; sister-in-law, Connie, Bridgewater. In addition to being predeceased by father, George; he recently lost his brother, Peter of Bridgewater. He is also survived by a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Roy was a quiet man who loved his family. A hard worker, Roy once built the family house, not having built so much as a bird house. He was always amazed at his accomplishments. He drove live haul for many years then had to make a career switch. AT the ripe old age of 60, Roy went back to school to get his CCA, working for a short time at Grand View Manor. His dream job came along when he started working at Maritime Bus, driving back and forth between Kentville and Halifax. Roy loved to drive, whether it was his long lost motorcycle, car, or big truck. Roy was very proud of his two sons, loved his sister Mary Jane’s apple pies and talking about family history with his Mom. Mostly, though, Roy loved his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He would share his love with anyone who would ask about his hope in the future. When Roy became sick he would always remind people that it’s the Lord who sustains us. His wife will miss his beautiful blue eyes, crooked smile and dry wit, but mostly his wisdom and strength of faith.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-15:
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as indeed the rest of mankind do, who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose from the dead, so also God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep through Jesus. For we say this to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will not precede those who have fallen asleep.
