Leona Mary Morrell (nee Chartrand)
February 14, 1933 – June 19, 2020

It is with much sadness and sorrow we share the news of our Mother’s passing on June 19th 2020. Beloved wife of the late Carl Edward Morrell and predeceased by her daughter Laurie-Ann and son Douglas. Leona is survived by her children Debra Ann Chescoe (David), Bruce Morrell, Gary Morrell, Karen Ethier (Peter) and Angie Lynn Morrell. She will be sadly missed by her 8 grandchildren Jason, Selena and Jessica Bisschops, Darren and Zackary Ethier, Ryan, Autumn and Blake Morrell as well as 11 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Gloria Rondeau, Laurette Steffan and Norman Chartrand. Leona is predeceased by her parents Emery and Annie Chartrand, her sister Claurita and brother Harold Chartrand. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Our mother will be lovingly remembered as a very strong independent woman. She always had a smile on her face, and her laugh was infectious. Leona always saw the good in everyone. Our sweet Mother will be forever cherished in our thoughts and memories. Leona’s final resting place will be beside her late husband Carl Morrell. We would like to express our gratitude to the Queensway-Carlton Hospital in Ottawa for giving exceptional care to our Mother, as well as allowing us to be with her in her final five weeks during this difficult time.

Interment in the family plot at the Sudbury Catholic Cemetery.

Under the COVID-19 directives there will be no more than 50 people at a time at the visitation and 80 people in the chapel. Everyone must wear a facemask.
