Leona (MacMillan) Wilcox passed away peacefully at St. Marys Memorial Hospital, St. Marys Ontario on Thursday July 30, 2020.
Leona, or ‘Nonie’ as she was known to family and friends, was born in Ingersoll Ontario on June 7 1937, daughter of the late Anne and Clarence MacMillan. She was predeceased by her spouse Robert (Bob) Wilcox in 1987. Leona and Bob trained Standardbred horses as a hobby in Kirkton, and later on the former Stephen homestead outside of Anderson, near St. Marys. She subsequently lived in Lucan, Ingersoll, Stratford and her journey ended at the Wildwood Care Centre in St. Marys. Friends and family will remember Leona for her unique laugh and her ‘jet set’ ways!
She will be missed by her children Tracy (Kristina) Wilcox of Windsor, Terri (Ian) Finnie of St. Marys and Tim Wilcox of Chatham. Loving grandmother of Emily Wilcox. She is also survived by her sisters Marg Robinson of Woodstock, Linda (Dave) Easton of Calgary, brothers Peter (Chris) MacMillan of North Bay, Don MacMillan of North Bay, and Ken MacMillan of Tillsonburg, as well as by sisters-in-law Suzanne Larose of London, Carole Grant of Stratford, brothers-in-law Al Moore of Whitby and Russ and Dale Wilcox of Corunna. Leona is predeceased by her sisters and brother-in-law Pat and husband Tim Maloney, Doris and Peter Kish, Jack and his wife Shirley MacMillan and Jim and his wife Nancy MacMillan all of Ingersoll. Also predeceased by sister Joan Moore of Whitby and brother Mike MacMillan of London as well as by sisters-in-law Doris MacMillan of Ingersoll, Lorraine MacMillan of Tillsonburg and brother-in-law Howard Robinson of Ingersoll.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Jon Schiedel for his thorough and compassionate care, as well as the staff of St Marys Memorial Hospital, Stratford General Hospital and Victoria Hospital London. Leona was also supported by Better Ways for Seniors and LHIN the past two years. We are extremely grateful to Scott, Lisa and your dedicated team at the Wildwood Care Centre for providing comfort and safety these past years…she will miss the banana cream pie! Warm thanks to Leona’s niece Julie Fisher for her ongoing love and support.
