Obituary
Lenora passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at the age of 96. She was predeceased by her husband John; sons Gerry and Brian Atkinson; and sister Kathy. Lenora will be dearly missed and forever loved by her daughter, Pat Atkinson (Reg O’Brien); daughters-in-law Doreen and Jan Atkinson; grandchildren Laura, Sheri (Andy), Pam (Brodi), David, and Jennifer (Tom); great grandchildren Erik, Nikolas, Lily, Isla, Asher and Pierce; sister Ethel; nieces Maureen (Larry) and Bobby Jo (Jerry); her extended family, the McDonald’s: Fred (Faye), Robert (Susan), Ronald (Janet), David (Eileen), Michael (Julie) and Richard, and their families; and many good friends.
After raising her family in Moose Jaw, Lenora relocated to Victoria, where she met and married her husband John and lived a full and happy life. Lenora moved to Calgary in 2011 to be closer to family. Lenora loved spending her time with family, especially her great grandchildren. She also enjoyed golfing, curling, bowling, knitting and was a skilled bridge player. Family were always excited for the homemade sweaters, toques, mitts, and doll clothes. Lenora made every occasion special and memorable and we will miss her beautiful smile, loving disposition, and those twinkly bright eyes.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memoriam may be made directly to the Calgary Humane Society (www.calgaryhumane.ca/donate).
We would like to extend our gratitude to the healthcare staff on the 4th Floor of Bethany Calgary for the respect and compassionate care they provided.
