LAWRENCE, LELAND BYRON: It is with broken hearts the family of Lee Lawrence announce his passing on September 12, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born in Long’s Creek, York Co., NB, on July 22, 1939, Lee was the son of the late Elizabeth (Evans) and Wilmot Lawrence. He worked for many years at the family business, Fairweather Tire and Automotive. Together, he and his wife Joan owned and operated the business for many years. Continuing today after 75 years, it is owned and operated by their son Paul.
In his younger years Lee enjoyed bowling, baseball and stock car races. After retirement he enjoyed gardening, golfing, and especially his weekly card game. He was one of the original members of the Lawrence Boys Marrtown Classic Golf Tournament.
Lee and Joan were married in 1961 and enjoyed 62 happy years together. He enjoyed many vacations with his family and loved to meet his brother and sons in Las Vegas. His greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lee will be deeply missed by his wife Joan (Fairweather); their children: daughter Sharron Hickey (Carter) of Westfield; daughter Wendy Sanford (William) of Quispamsis; son Paul Lawrence (Patricia) of Hampton; son Robin Lawrence (Kelli) of Quispamsis; their grandchildren Rebecca Belliveau (Christian) and their children: Lincoln and Theodore Belliveau; Jordan Hickey (Jessica); Jeffrey and Bradley Sanford; Nicole and Andrew Lawrence; Julia and Ashlee Lawrence; and his chosen grandchildren: Evie and Paxton Hargraves; his brothers: Willard Lawrence (Marilyn) of Saint John, and Roger Lawrence (Joann) of Downey, California; his sister Myrna Henry (Lloyd) of Saint John and his sister-in-law Pauline Lawrence of Saint John; his special niece Nancy Davis; as well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
As well as his parents, Lee was predeceased by his brother Garnet Lawrence; his sister and brother-in-law Helen and Rob Burgess of Whitby, ON; and by his mother-in-law and father-in-law Helen and Ray Fairweather. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Tuesday, September 15 from 2-5pm and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be celebrated from the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, September 16 at 2 p.m. Staff will be available at the main entrance of the funeral home to assist guests. Please note that Co-vid 19 restrictions will be observed, and masks are mandatory during both the visitation and funeral service at the family’s request.
