In Loving Memory of Lawrence Dool
January 27, 1944 ~ January 9, 2020
Lawrence William Dool was born January 27th, 1944, in the back seat of a new 1943 Dodge car belonging to Eric Neuman, somewhere in the Calmar area. He passed away peacefully in his own home, with his wife Shirley by his side, on January 9th, 2020. Lawrence lived in the Thorsby area all his life. At the age of 16 he started working for Thorsby Auction Mart as a stockman and trucker, where he stayed until he turned 60, retiring as barn boss. He worked for a brief time at Chinchaga Carriers at Rainbow Lake 1967 – 1968 as a mechanic and also worked as janitor for ten years at Thorsby Jr- Sr High School. Throughout the years he also farmed his land, which was his love. Lawrence had a strong work ethic, with work always coming first. Summer holidays only happened if it didn’t stop raining. Lawrence was a kind and gentle man, who loved animals and his family. He would do anything to help out his neighbors, be it mechanical repairs on their equipment or helping out in the fields. Over the years several teenagers were given a place to stay while they got their lives back on track. The door was always open to everyone. Lawrence had serious health problems over the last few years, but he never complained about the pain, or gave up and kept doing what he loved. His favorite things to do was operating the cat and filling in all the potholes on the farms and running the combine. Harvest was his favorite time of year. Even though he spent time in hospital this fall, as soon as he got home, he was out swathing and combining. Lawrence leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Shirley; son, Richard; daughter in law, Lori; grandchildren, Cameron and Larissa Dool; daughter, Michelle; son in law, Kurt; granddaughters, Ember-Lynn and Amelia; grandson, Teryn Nahuliak; granddaughter, Dakota; great granddaughter, Skyla Dool; granddaughter Nakita Dool; great granddaughter, Gabriella; great-grandson, James Zukowski; brother, Cyril (Diana) Dool; sister, Dianna (Clifford) Sather; as well as several nieces and nephews.
