Lawrence’s Obituary
Lawrence White was born in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton, on August 21, 1941. He was the son of the late Alexander and Annie (Norse) White. He was 78 when he passed away on May 4th, 2020 at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital in Tatamagouche, N.S. At the time of his death, Lawrence was listening to his favourite Elvis Presley album with his daughter, Wendy, by his side. Lawrence White lost his battle with cancer, 49 days after Shirley White (Arsenault), his wife, lost hers. Lawrence’s family would like to say a very special Thank You to the amazing staff at the small but mighty hospital in Tatamagouche. The kindness and never-ending compassion from his doctors, nurses, Palliative Care nurse, registration desk, kitchen staff and cleaners, truly made these last few months the best as they could be. The staff always made sure he was comfortable and had everything he needed, and his family will always be grateful. Lawrence was predeceased by his twin siter, Lorraine; sister, Ethel; and brothers, George and Duncan. Lawrence is survived by his three daughters, Lorraine White, Antigonish; Michelle White, Ontario; Wendy MacLean (Chris), Tatamagouche; Lawrence’s grandchildren, Spencer, Alexander John, Olivia and Gracie Anne; his baby brother, Thomas; sisters, Mary and Dorothy; niece, Nancy; nephews, Brian, David and Donald. Lawrence loved to golf with his buddy, Simon Larade for many years at Seaview Golf and Country Club. He enjoyed listening to music and found the simple things in life comforting. There will be a Celebration of Life for Lawrence and Shirley White at their daughter’s house in Tatamagouche when it is safe to gather.
