1963-2020
ELSIPOGTOG, NB – It is with great sadness that the
family announces the peaceful passing of Laverne Polchies at her home
on Saturday, September 12, 2020. Born in New Mexico, she was
the daughter of the late Ray Wood and Marilyn McConnell
Wood. Laverne was a caring woman that loved her family, her
children and all the children in her neighborhood. She was a
strong woman and her traditional beliefs were very important to
her.
Laverne will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 34
years, Cyril Polchies of Elsipogtog; her mother, Marilyn McConnell
Wood of Elsipogtog; two step-daughters, Amanda Polchies
(Chad) of Elsipogtog, Linsay Polchies of Montana; two sons,
James Wood (Marisa) of PEI, Jayden Augustine of Elsipogtog; one
step-son, Josh Brooks (Jennifer) of Eskasoni; seven grandchildren,
Henry, Matthew, Laila, Misel, Lipaai, Aslyn, Tristan and one
sister-in-law, Teesa Wood.
The last surviving member of her immediate family, Laverne
was predeceased by her father, Ray Wood; two brothers, Randy, Kurt and
one step-son, Charles.
Visitation will begin at noon on Tuesday at her home, 81 Levi
Street in Elsipogtog until time of service. A celebration of
Laverne’s life will be held at her home on Thursday,
September 17, 2020 at 11:00 am, a luncheon will
follow.
Arrangements are in care of Thompson’s Funeral Home
in Richibucto (523-4252).
