Laurie Allen Kennedy
Laurie Allen Kennedy, 83, Hilden, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Friday, July 24, 2020 at home.
Born in Pleasant Valley, he was the son of the late Elwood and Myrtle (Carter) Kennedy.
Laurie worked for many years as a woodsman. He worked for some years with the local cement plant but was always drawn back to working in the woods. Music was an enjoyable hobby for him. He was one of those people that could pick up any instrument and play it. He especially loved the accordion, mouth organ, guitar, fiddle and mandolin. Newfoundland and Bluegrass music was his favourite. Laurie will be missed by his family and friends and indeed all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Doris (Gibson); son, Jeff (Donna), Hilden; daughter, Diana, Hilden; grandchildren, Kaylie, Taylor, Landyn, Brandon, Felicia, Brittany, Logan and Molly; nine great grandchildren; brother, Orland (Verna), Pleasant Valley; sisters, Avis Tufts, Brookfield, Wenda Andrews, Brookfield; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Leroy and Sidney “Ross”.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. A Family Interment of Ashes will be held in the Lower Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
